Despite my failure to secure tickets in the earlier ballot, I managed to get a mix of tickets through FIFA and FA ballots, including $84 tickets for a conditional round of 32 fixture. I also secured tickets to a New Zealand match and a round of 16 contest at the iconic Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, a bucket list item for any stadium aficionado. The total cost for 15 tickets was $5,829, with some tickets sold to friends who missed out. Accommodation costs were high, especially in Vancouver and Seattle, but I managed to find a stay at a university campus for a cost-effective price in Vancouver. The group stage fixtures in the US, particularly in Vancouver and Seattle, are walkable from downtown, and I plan to travel overland by Amtrak. I'll also fly by seaplane for one of my trips back to Seattle. The Socceroos' group stage fixtures in the US are advantageous, with close proximity to major cities and accessible stadiums. However, the team's performance and the best third-placed spots are unpredictable, adding to the excitement and uncertainty of the tournament. Despite missing out on warm-up friendlies in Mexico and Switzerland, I'm determined to make the most of the World Cup experience, inspired by the creativity of English supporter flags. As a football tragic, I'm willing to go to great lengths to attend the tournament, even if it means financial strain. The 2026 World Cup promises to be an unforgettable adventure, and I'm eager to immerse myself in the passion and excitement of football in a genuine football country.
